Project A

Project A is the first BSF school to be build in Second Life by the team at Middlesbrough City Learning Centre in conjunction with Acklam Grange School and we believe anywhere else in the world.

16/10/2008: The first rez of the building went up on the island without any textures but we have already looked briefly at cctv camera placement in-world. The school and builders are very pleased and excited about the possibilities.

Once the textures have been applied we will be boxing up the build so it can be rezzed on another island in Teen Second Life where pupils will be able to join in with the process.

We are also engaging in a process of 'Thought showering' (PC version of brain storming) To work out what interactive functionality we want to build into the school.

The first stage of the build is almost complete.

This is a video taken of our builder putting up the

second rez of the building using quite an amazing building technique!

Started to kit out the classrooms today and it makes such a difference to have the reference points of technology and furniture in the rooms

Use of the visualisation has been quite extensive so far. We have introduced all of one year to their new school on the same day as they walked around the building site. Another year group are creating a publicity film using footage from the iscool. We have all the heads of department looking at the new departmental areas and the environment has been used on a staff BSF weekend for orientation and discussion.

The first bespoke furniture is in to the classrooms.
Parents and local community have been in this week to take a look at the building site and then have a tour through the virtual school giving much clarity to what will become of the shell of a building currently on site.

Looks amazing. I'd love to know more about the way the rezzer works - how do you get the plan data into it?
